Members and managers
Of course, when you think of the band, you mostly just have the group members in your mind. And sure enough, they are the ones performing and the results you see following a long and often laborious process of production and management. We fans often forget the people working long hours way before the concerts and shows, where rigging the facilities to make the shows possible would not be feasible without their help. This includes even the guys running with coffee for a sound technician. One of the hard-working people behind Dragonfly has been their manager Juan Carlos Gómez "Richal" from Red Sky Productions & Management. He has spent a few years with the band, often sacrificing personal resources in terms of time, the hardship of negotiations and the constant focus on being a step ahead of what we fans often see. When we experience a concert, there has been many months of work prior to that event and when the curtain drops (at least for us) the next-day-shift is already upon the crew who is making sure we can enjoy music of really good quality. Managers are not often acknowledged, they are the invisible "do"-ers behind the shows, and many times they are also the people to carry the label of scapegoats if something bad happens or fans end up disappointed. And of course, there are always conflicts and difficulties involved in this type of business as the higher the Tree of Career, the harder the wind blows and sometimes branches break costing both fans and band money and time, which leaves a trailing sensation of being let down and dissatisfaction. Richal has been holding the back of this band with endurance and faith in that this Dragonfly will spread its wing high and make it in a world of fierce competition. Let's hope for the best and support the all those involved under the brand name Dragonfly. Thanks Richal.
Personal reflection: One thing that I am personally pleased with regarding this band as well as the management surround it so far, is the professionalism they have showed numerous times in the face of disappointment. Although profit is a very important driving force and a feedback loop to reach success these days (as without money there are no tours, no gear and only limited possibilities), the band has not compromised regarding its passion for why they started playing music in the first place. In addition, even the management appears to hold this dear and the understanding of Queens's classical "The show must go on" is often put as a main objective, hence the constant struggle even with limited means. This demands respect... and they deserve it.
